In US news, NowThis Reports is shining a light on the growing recycling, waste management, and plastic pollution crisis in the United States. For a long time China recycling plants have taken recyclable materials from the U.S., but these recycling operations in China recently decided not to take recyclable plastic and paper from the United States. As Americans continue to put plastic waste and paper (what they think are recyclables) into their recycling bins, US cities have fewer places to send recycling. Recyclables are instead going to waste processing plants or landfills where it is contributing to plastic pollution and air pollution.
