Jess Phillips reads out names of all the women killed by men in the last year

MPs listened in silence on Wednesday as Jess Phillips read out the names of all the women killed by men in the last year in the UK during a debate to mark International Women’s Day in the House of Commons.

The Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley warned of the prevalence of violence against women, saying: ‘Killed women are not vanishingly rare, killed women are common.’

Her comments come in the wake of the kidnapping and murder of Sarah Everard in London last week.
