Reforestation in Madagascar: Rebirth of a vital ecosystem
Ecosia is the search engine that plants trees: https://www.ecosia.org/
Madagascar is the fourth biggest island in the world and it holds a vast and rich treasure of species in flora and fauna. Some of these species are so rare that around 80% of them are found nowhere else on earth, including the island’s famous lemurs.
But this diversity of landscapes, flora and fauna is at stake. A combination of colonialism, global markets and a growing population has wiped off around 85-90% of Madagascar’s original forest cover.
Your searches on Ecosia are helping us support a tree-planting project in Madagascar that will hopefully contribute to undo the damages.
