With Reservoirs Bone-Dry, How Is Chennai Dealing with Water Crisis? | The Quint

With Chennai metro water supply cut by 40%, water is available in most areas for hardly an hour leaving everyone at the mercy of water tankers. Almost all reservoirs are bone-dry with pipes empty. The wait period for metro water tankers is more than a month and private lorries are not affordable and accessible to all. People want the government to install desalination plants and rainwater harvesting systems, regulate the extraction of water and install more taps in rural localities.
