Amazon fire ban – BBC News

The President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has banned setting fires to clear land in the Amazon Rainforest for 60 days, in response to the overwhelming increase in the number of fires there now. The Amazon, which helps to slow down the pace of global warming, has seen more than 80,000 fires break out so far this year. Reeta Chakrabarti presents the News at Ten, with Sophie Long reporting from Novo Progresso, deep in the Amazon.
