Plastic straws and cotton buds among single-use plastics to be banned in the UK | 5 News

► They are items that are often used for just a few minutes: a straw to drink with, a stirrer for your coffee, or a cotton bud.

But they contribute to serious lasting damage to our planet.

From next April, these products are going to be banned in England – with few exceptions.

The government says it is trying to ‘turn the tide’ on plastic pollution, but will it make a dent?
